Frequently Asked Questions

Can the Nest Cam work without a subscription?

Yes. You get live view and 3 hours of event history free, and on-device detection keeps alerting you to people, animals and vehicles even with no plan.

Does it record continuously?

No. The battery model records event clips, not 24/7 video. Continuous recording is available on wired Nest Cams with Nest Aware Plus.

Is it compatible with the old Nest app?

The battery Nest Cam works in the Google Home app; the older Nest app supports earlier wired models but not this one.
